BIBLICAL MEDITATION: to dwell on, visualize, to mutter or
speak to one’s self, to attend to (using Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary
of Old and New Testament Words).
Joshua
1:8 NIV, “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on
it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in
it. Then you will be prosperous
and successful.” (Also, Ps. 1:2,3, Pro. 4:20-24)
Keeping
God’s Words going in your eye-gate, ear-gate and mouth-gate will sow the
incorruptible seed of the Word into your heart. The Word will speak to you and become revelation knowledge.
You’ll see the Father’s heart, the Father’s love.
In
Mark 10, there is the story of the rich young man who wanted eternal life but
was not willing to leave what he had (the lower life) to get it. Jesus told him to go and sell what he
had and give to the poor and then to follow him. He walked away sad, thinking he would be loosing all he had
worked hard to accumulate. BUT GOD
IS NOT A TAKER. HE IS A
GIVER. The Lord was setting this
man up by God’s Laws of sowing and reaping, to become even more blessed to be a bigger blessing
to others. That’s why Jesus could say that those that have left houses, or
brethren, etc. for the gospel’s sake would receive a hundredfold return NOW IN
THIS LIFETIME, and in the age to come ETERNAL LIFE. But because the rich man had no revelation (no insight), he
became fearful and made a bad decision. He was reluctant to part with his
riches and use them for the glory of God and the good of others.
I
like Mark 10:27 in The Message translation, “Jesus was blunt: “No chance at all if you think you can
pull it off by yourself. Every
chance in the world if you let God do it”.
Jesus
said in Luke 6:38 KJV, “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed
down and shaken together; and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete
withal it shall be measured to you again.”
With
God as his business partner, there is no way that he would have been starving
to death. He had the opportunity to sow in great measure and to reap back in
great measure as well.
2 Corinthians 9:6-10 AMP
6[Remember]
this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and
grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone]
will also reap generously and with blessings. 7Let each one [give]
as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or
sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves, (He takes pleasure in, prizes
above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful
(joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving]. 8And
God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in
abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the
need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and
furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]. 9As
it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the
poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on
and endure forever! 10And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and
bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and
increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active
goodness, kindness, and charity]. 11Thus you will be enriched in all
things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as
it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God.
Proverbs 11:24 KJV, “There is that scattereth, and
yet increaseth; and there is that
withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty”.
Proverbs 28:27 AMP, “He who gives to the poor will
not want, but he who hides his eyes [from their want] will have many a curse”.
Proverbs 21:13 KJV, “Whoso stoppeth his ears at the
cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard”.
